7 Days of Glitter with Arrru ::: Day 4 "Glitter & Monochromatic Purple"

All looks in this mini-series till now have been relatively simple, so I decided to change things up a bit and present to you this monochromatic purple look that is way more fun! I love how it turned out!

When the idea of “7 Days of Glitter” hit me, I already had a few looks in my mind. But I did need to research for more inspiration. I found a lot of looks with glitter on the lower lash-line. It looked interesting and I thought I could replicate this! Also, I was trying to use up all the glitter products that I have in my possession and Makeup Geek pigment in Bewitched was the only one that I did not use yet. I was also itching to wear After Dark Revolution Lipstick from Urban Decay (I have a detailed review here); it is a gorgeous purple-plum shade and is one of my most favorite lipsticks. Because Bewitched and After Dark are different hades of purple, I decided to follow a monochromatic purple look for my makeup!

Step-by-step approach to the eye-look: I know it look a little bit difficult, but trust me, it is a very simple look to execute. This is how it goes -

1. Mac Painterly Paint Pot in Layin’ Low as the primer.
2. Light layer of Makeup Geek Crème Brulee on the crease. This is not at all a necessary step but I like to add this shadow to achieve perfect blending when I go in with a colored matte shadow.
3. Makeup Geek Fashion Addict on the crease. I love to use colors on my crease! This is essentially to create and deepen the eye-socket to give the illusion that I have rounder eyes :-)
4. Violet from IT Cosmetics Naturally Pretty palette on my entire lid. It helps in creating that whole monochromatic vibe on my eye look.
5. I added just a touch of Iconic from the same palette on the outer corner.
6. This time, I went for a thick, quite heavy winged eyeliner with Stila Stay All Day waterproof liquid eyeliner. Winged eyeliner is definitely my weakness!
7. For this look, all the fun lies on the lower lash line. I applied a generous layer of Makeup Geek shimmer shadow Toxic on the lower lash-line. It will give me a purple base for my glitter.
8. I mixed Smashbox Primer Water with a bit of Bewitched glitter pigment from Makeup Geek to get a liquid consistency. I applied it over the purple eyeshadow on the lower lash line.
9. Once I was done with the Bewitched pigment, I strongly felt the need of more glitter! It is the holidays after all, hence I applied Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner in Midnight Cowboy over the bewitched pigment. This liner is very quickly becoming my holy grail eye-glitter.
10. Diow Show mascara to prime my lashes before going in with a heavy coating of Urban Decay Perversion Mascara on both my lower and upper lash line. I know it is way too much for day time wear but I love a little bit of glamour once in a while.

• TARTE Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape Contour Concealer in Tan Sand. Hourglass Ambient® Lighting Powder in Dim Light to set my under eye area. The Tarte Concealer does not really need any setting but I love the Hourglass powder, so I am going to use it.
• Urban Decay Afterglow 8-Hour Powder Blush in Bitter Sweet.
• CARGO Swimmables Water Resistant Bronzer.
• Laura Mercier Face Illuminator Powder in Devotion. (read full review here)
• Essence Lipliner in to line my lip. After Dark Revolution (Read full review here) from Urban Decay to fill both my lips. And I added a tiny bit of Buxom Ultraviolet (Read full review here) just at the center of the lips.
• MAC Fix+ at the end to spritz and get rid of any powder-y look, if there is any.

7 Days of Glitter with Arrru ::: Day 3 "Soft Halo Glitter"

I did this look a few months back and I forgot to take a flatlay picture with the products I used on my face that day! Now, I am having a lot of trouble remembering them :-( Luckily, I do remember the glitter I used. It was Touch In Sol’s Metallist Liquid Foil & Glitter Eye Shadow Duo in "Margaret". It is a fantastic product to use – super glittery and offers very convenient application.

The look today is not a whole lot different in application than the look on Day 1 (see here), only the glitter intensity and its placement varies!  Below are the products I am wearing in this eye-look –

Step-by-step approach to the eye-look:

1. Mac Painterly Paint Pot in Layin’ Low as the primer
2. Like I said, I forgot what matte shades I used in this look. But I am going to refer to similar shades for the tutorial and I hope that’s ok!
3. Makeup Geek Crème Brule on the crease to get a little bit of definition.
4. Makeup Geek Cocoa Bear on the crease, with a little bit of intensity and on the outer corner as well. This step is for curving out the socket and to give it a rounder look.
5. Makeup Geek Corrupt - just lightly on the very, very outer corner to create more depth. This step needs a bit control because a pigmented black shade can quickly ruin the look. The trick is to go in with very light layer, and add more if you want your outer corner to look more dark. 
6. Here is the fun part of this look. This Touch in Sol metallist shadows comes in two separate parts. I used the liquid side to pat on over my lid – from inner corner to 2/3^rd of the lid. The other side is nice, heavy chunks of glitter. I applied it mainly over the center of my lid. Once I am done with this step, I can see that the borders where the glitters meet the liquid shadows in the inner corner and the dark matte shades on the outer corner are a bit rough. It is very easy to fix, I just go in with the matte shades with a very light layer to blend those edges and make them appear more cohesive.  
7. Yes, I drew another winged eyeliner… he he! I cannot seem to get away from those. I used Stila Stay All Day Waterproof eyeliner in Black.
8. I added just a touch of Makeup Geek Cocoa Bear under my lower lash liner to warm it up a little bit. I also applied a black creamy eyeliner on the lower water-line and to tight-line my upper lash line as well.
9. A good heavy coat of mascara on both upper and lower lashes. I think I used Touch in Sol mascara. I loved this mascara.

I don’t remember what I used on the rest of my face. But it is quite simple! Foundation, concealer, little bit of blush, generously applied bronzer plus highlighter and a very pretty muted rosy shade on the lips – that’s about it! 7 Days of Glitter with Arrru ::: Day 2 "Simple Glitter Eyeliner"

Merry Christmas, everyone! I hope you are having fantastic times with your friends & family and they brought you all the gifts you wanted! :-) I have another simple look for you today! I paired a glitter eyeliner with must-have holiday red lips! To check all 7 looks from this mini -series click here. I am actually having a lot of fun with this :-)

Today’s look is great for a simple office party or for a little glam during Christmas-day get together. I mean, you can wear it any day of the year when want to glam up and yet don’t want put in a lot of effort. It is such a simple look to look-at and to apply; It just needs a little bit of patience and control! I used the loose glitter pigments from Makeup Geek here, but I wished I would have discovered the Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter liner at that time. It would have made my life so much easier.

Step-by-step approach to the eye-look: The look essentially starts out the same way like yesterday’s (see here).

1. Mac Painterly Paint Pot in Layin’ Low as the primer
2. Sunset from IT Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Palette on the crease just to define it.
3. Java from IT Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Palette on the outer corner to further deepen that definiton.
4. Stila All Day Waterproof eyeliner to draw a comparatively thicker winged liner. 
5. Once the eyeliner dries down, use a thin eyeliner brush to add a bit of glitter glue over the inner part of the winged eyeliner. I use Makeup Geek Utopia Pigment and just a drop of Mac Fix+ to get a liquid consistency out of the pigment. Once the glitter glue is bit tacky, I used the same eyeliner brush to draw the glitter eyeliner over the inner part of the eyeliner. I stopped at about 2/3^rd of my eyeliner. I want the tail of my wing to still be black. Basically, you get an ombre liner that goes from glitter to completely black.
6. Touch in Sol mascara to get good defined length on my lashes. Lashes are very important for this look! :-)

The rest of the face is simple. It is a fun and yet simple look when you pair it with a bold lip. I wore this look last Christmas and my choice of lipstick shade will always be red. Here are the products I used on my face.

This is one of my staple go-to looks. Whenever I don’t know what kind of makeup I want, but I do have a few spare seconds to get ready I tend to wear this look. It is effortless but  very put-together! Don’t worry guys, I enjoy drama on my eyes as well and I am going to share some quite fun and playful look with glitter as well. 7 Days of Glitter with Arrru ::: Day 1 "All-over-the-lid Glitter"

"7 days of Glitter" - This phrase has been bugging me from Christmas last year! I don't know why and how I got to "7 days" but it seemed so much fun! I intended to do it last year, but could not manage enough time, but this year I AM going to do it. During this last few days leading up to the new year eve, I am going to share 7 diffirent looks that will incorporate glitter on my eyes, in some form! I don’t really get much chance to wear glitters these days! So, this mini-series is going to be a wonderful excuse to pull out the glitters from my collection :-) Plus, new year is coming; Christmas is already here, we all need little bit of glitter in our lives! 

Let’s start with a look that is simple and a bit subtle. It is a very easy look even if you are just a beginner with makeup or with glitters. By the way, if you are looking for some beginner friendly glitter eyeshadow, Colourpop super shock shadows are the best! They are super easy to use, very affordable and have wonderful staying power! Anyway, I am drifting away from today's look.

It is an everyday glam look! I used neutral shades for my entire look, but you can wear this eye look with any shades; actually bold & bright shades of lipstick or a brave, fun shade of blush really flatters this kind of eye looks!

Step-by-step approach to the eye-look: 

1. Mac Painterly Paint Pot in Layin’ Low as the primer all over the lid extending above the crease area. 
2. Makeup Geek eyeshadow in Crème Brulee on the crease just to define it. This shade is almost identical to my skin tone.
3. Buxom eyeshadow in Filthy Rich on the outer corner to create more depth.
4. ME-700 (Amber) from Make Up For Ever Artist Palette Vol. 2! This is a gold shade but I just lightly patted it over the lid. I made sure not to put a heavy layer because these shadows are quite pigmented!
5. This is my most favorite part. I applied a very, very light, evenly distributed layer of Urban Decay Midnight Cowboy eyeliner over my lid making. I took precaution not to get the glitter above or near my crease! I love these glitter liners from Urban Decay! I love how easy it is to apply, how easy it is to control to get any level of intensity you want and you really don’t need any glitter glue. I am definitely using it again throughout these seven days.
6. This look would really look nice with a simple liner, but I am a huge fan of winged liner. :-) I used Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper.
7. Lakme Kajol Eyeliner on my water line.
8. This is an unnecessary step but I have been really enjoying wearing something on my lower lash line. I used Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Plum and smudged it.
9. I used Marc Jacobs Beauty O!Mega Lash Volumizing Mascara in Blacquer and Loreal Volumnous Carbon Black mascara.

Beautylish LUCKY BAG 2016 ::: A Year Later

As 2016 quickly approaches to its end, a handful of beauty junkies eagerly wait for Beautylish Lucky Bags! I made up my mind long back that I will get one for 2016. And luckily, I was able to get my hands on it before it sold out. If you don’t have any idea what this Lucky Bag is, here is my original post for some detailed look! It costs 75$ and it came with the following products. You have to keep in my mind that these are random assortment and you have no clue beforehand what you are getting in your bag. I got quite lucky last year. But because I have so much stuff already, I am skipping it this year! But I THOROUGHLY enjoyed my bag from last year!

Many of these products has made a permanent place in my heart and here is what I think -

Natasha Denona Eyeshadow Palette 5 in #4 (Cost:$48, available in Sephora, Beautylish): You can check my review here where I go into much deeper about the product price and quality. But I love this palette, I don’t wear it as much as I want to but whenever I do, I end up loving my eye look! The shades in this are perfect for fall and winter season but can be very easily worn during summer. I always end up doing a halo eyes with this palette, but that’s ok! These are super pigmented, creamy and super blendable. I prefer using my fingers with these shadows. Oxide is my most favorite shade!

Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector (Cost: $30, available in Ulta, Sephora, Beautylish): This was the product I was not excited at all when I got the bag. I applied way too much when I tried for the first time, but after that I slowly learnt how to apply it. I put just a tiny, little amount on the tip of my fingers and pat it on. After 5-6 seconds, I apply my concealer. It gives me a glow and removes any tired feeling from my face. I don’t typically wear it at night when I may take photos as with high definition flash, it kind of glows a bit more and appears way white than I want it to be! I would never buy it on my own but used wisely, I definitely have been enjoying this in my collection.

rms beauty Living Luminizer (Cost: $38, available in Beautylish, Sephora): Oh my my! Where do I start! Read a full in depth review here but nonetheless, you should know that I dreamt of this product for years and when I finally got it in my lucky bag, it definitely delivered. I love how sheer it is, and yet how pigmented it is. I can wear it over foundation or bare moisturized skin and it performs the same. I just used my fingers to put it on the high point of my cheek bones, sometimes at the middle of my eyebrows and it immediately makes me feel and look alive! I am absolutely HEAD OVER HEELS in love with it!

Kevyn Aucoin The Pure Powder Glow in Myracle (Cost: $37, available Beautylish, Sephora): Another love! I mean, I am very vocal about bright, bold shades of makeup. So, the color immediately makes me happy. Catch a full in depth review here. I love this shade. It is a bright, bright fuchsia. Very easy to control, super blendable and you need just a light swipe on your brush to get the color on your cheek. The color makes me look so healthy, happy and alive. It immediately brightens up my face. I have used it quite a bit, you know as much as I can use a shade like this, but there is just no sign on the pan.

Bioderma Sensibio H2O 100 ml (Cost: $6.95, available here): This is cult favorite product. I am glad I tried it but I still have not formed a solid thought on this. I have other products that I am still using but I love having this travel size. It greatly helped us during my sister’s wedding by assisting in fast and easy eye makeup remover.

IT cosmetics Hello Lashes Clinically Proven 5-in-1 Mascara (Cost: $24, available in Beautylish,, Ulta): It is quite an expensive mascara for what it is. I started using it a few months ago, and I definitely liked using it and it did not dry up at all. Natural looking lash and I don’t have any complaint.

Wayne Goss Brush 05 (Cost: $20, Available here): Definitely a love! I did not typically wear anything on my lower lash line before this even though I do really enjoy that. But after this brush, I have been wearing it so often. It is so very smooth that it is a pleasure to work it!

Play! by Sephora ::: December 2016!!!

My December Sephora Play has arrived and this is potentially my last Sephora play! The theme of this month’s bag is “The Partygoers” and I was so eagerly hoping to get a glitter product of some sort. But alas, there was none!

First of all, the cloth bag this month is super cute and the page where they list all the products is nicely designed as well. Now for the products – I would say this is a nice assortment of some very well-loved, great performing products. Most of them are cult favorites. That is really nice but not for someone deeply invested in the “beauty world”. I already have tried or have got all of these before! Basically, this is not an exciting bag for me at all.

Make Up For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Smoothing Primer: A lot of people love these primers from Make Up For Ever. I have their hydrating one from the same line and I don’t really have anything to rave about it. I tried this smoothing one on my hand and it really feels smooth. I will try it out and you will definitely hear about it if I end up LOVING it. Also, can we talk about how tiny this sample is? It is really tiny!

Lancôme Hypnose Drama Instant Full Body Volume Mascara: Good to have another mascara because as a beauty lover, I don’t hoard enough mascaras! :-\ This is another mascara that always end up in sample bags. This or some other variations from Lancôme! Honestly, I don’t remember! But because I don’t expect a lot from my mascaras, I don’t think I will “not” enjoy it!

Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain in 01 Always Red: This is such an industry favorite. After hearing about it for years, I finally grabbed it when it was offered as a gift with purchase just a month or two ago. So, I am not personally very excited about getting it in this box. I mean if you are a true Sephora lover, I am 80% sure you already have this lipstick. But aside that complaint, it is a gorgeous red. Very neutral and very eye-catching. Its stays on unless you eat very oily food. It is also a universal red and designed for every skin tone.

Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray: Another cult favorite product! I feel like this is one of those products that you will end up trying at one point of your life, if you have any kind of beauty interest. It’s a good setting spray and really does help to hold on to your makeup. I have super dry skin so I don’t really struggle with makeup sliding off my face. But it is definitely a good product to have.

Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo: This is the only product from here that I have not tried. Drybar is a coveted brand and I do use dry shampoo quite regularly so I am really excited to try it out. I am pretty sure I will use it up easily.

Elizabeth and James Nirvana Rose: I am not a big fan of the Nirvana perfumes. They are too heavy for my taste and I often end up having headaches if I use them. If you like woodsy heavy spicy scents you will enjoy it. It is described as floral but I don’t agree with that. But it is nice to get a bonus perfume spray every month.   

Although, the products in this bag were good, I can’t still find any justification for me to keep subscribing. Who else subscribes to Sephora Play? Are you happy with this subscription?

Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lighting Blush Palette ::: Review & Swatches ||| Holiday 2016

I first tried the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light sometime back in June this year and I have become a big fan. I recently got a gift card from Sephora and could not resist the temptation for this beautiful palette. This is called Ambient Strobe Lighting Blush Palette! Hourglass had a released a similar palette before but I did not like the shades included. This one however had some beautiful deep-er shades that had the potential to suit a lot of different skin tones. 

But unfortunately, I had to return it! To know why, do keep reading!!

Availability: You can buy it from Sephora here. If I am not wrong, it is a Sephora Exclusive. Luckily, it is still available at the time I share the blog post.

Price: Hourglass is a luxury brand! Unsurprisingly they have quite expensive price tag. Personally, I think that the gorgeous yet practical packaging with even better product definitely proves that the price is worth it. For me, it’s the “feel-good” factor that counts the most. Every time I use it, I feel like a little princess; even for just a second!

The palette will cost you $62 for a total of 3x0.09 oz. of products. A regular size of their permanent blush will cost you $38 for 0.15 oz. of powders. Per my rough calculations, you have about 6-7$ of saving!

Packaging: Without any shred of doubt in my mind, I can state that Hourglass makes one of the very best exquisite looking products. And I am sure that any beauty lover would agree with me. Especially their palettes are just SPECTACULAR to look at! Apart from their Ambient Light Edit Palette from this year, this is the signature look for their palettes. My only gripe is that they can easily catch finger marks but I can ignore that. They are quite sturdy for travelling. Also, can you talk about how beautiful the actual product is? Their ambient powders are swirled together with the colored pigments and the final result is some cool looking marbled product on the pan! I absolutely LOVE it! 

Formula: This is what I found in Sephora website about the formula - “A limited-edition blush palette with the illuminating effects of Ambient Strobe Lighting Powder fused with blush pigments for glowing color and a natural-looking, radiant finish.” From what I understood, this is a new formula; they mixed their blush shades with the strobe highlighting formula they released earlier this year. My brain completely ignored to registrar that! Basically, this formula has way more “luminosity” in this. Their ambient powders are known for how subtle and natural they are; subtle but very effective! But these are very shimmery. I do like that the shimmer particles are still very, very minuscule, but there is a lot of it! They put more of the strobe powder than the blush pigment and that is where I have the issue! Looking at the shades, I thought they will show up on my skin without much struggle. But apart from the “Brilliant Nude” shade, the other two shades look pretty frosty on me. Especially when I first apply it. After 3-4 hours, it sank in and looked much more natural, and I definitely liked that look! But I still did not think it will be something I would be eager to wear. I ended up returning it. However, I do think that this palette will be beautiful if you have light to semi-medium skin with very smooth, less porous cheeks :-) I have lots of acne scars and pores on my cheeks so I fear that this will highlight all the things I don’t want to highlight. If you have skin tone similar to mine or deeper these are not going to show up that nicely!

They are pretty easy to use, blend and they do have a wear-time of at least 7-8 hrs. So apart from the extra shimmer in it, I do really like the formula.

Shades: They look so, so PRETTY! If I had extra 62 bucks lying around, I would have kept the palette just as a show piece. They just look so beautiful!

Incandescent Electra: This is a shade that is present in their permanent blush line. But the formula in this might be different. Anyway, this is a beautiful neon type coral shade; neon but subtle! However, I can’t really wear it just as a blush. Too frosty for me! I did wear it as a highlighter on the picture and I liked it. But I do have a lot of highlighters already!

Brilliant Nude: This is the shade I liked the most. Mainly because it showed on my cheek very nicely. It is quite flattering! Especially when I want to have just a simple look but I do want to look healthy and glowing this is the shade I will pick up! I love it.

Euphoric Fusion: Another shade that disappointed me. Looking at the pan I thought this is going to be flattering on me without any doubt. But nope! Lot of frostiness!

Because these are marbled product, not every palette will come with the same ratio of strobe highlighting powder to blush pigments. I think my palette came with more highlighter than blush. Out of the 3 shades, 2 were almost unwearable for me. So, I had to return it!

Bottom line, I do not recommend this palette if you have skin tone that is similar to mine or deeper. I also don’t recommend if you have problematic cheek area, like me! :-) But if you do have really nice smooth skin and if you have pale to light-medium skin tone, this will be beautiful on you!
